Each year our goal is to find a charity where we can really make a difference to not only by fundraising, but also to go beyond that through additional activities and initiatives to increase awareness. For 2017/18, we chose to partner with Centre for Mental Health, who are a small local charity based in Elephant and Castle, London. This year we have raised a total of £50,000 for Centre for Mental Health through an array of fundraising initiatives across the year. These have included quiz nights, music gigs, golf days, cycle rides to Europe, to name but a few.
Suicide has increased at an alarming rate in the UK over the past five years. The majority of people who take their own lives are not in contact with specialist mental health providers at the time of their death. This is the reason we are currently wholly funding a research project that is looking to bring best practice together across the UK from our Local Authorities approach to earlier intervention for those who require help. This research document is due to be published and presented to the House of Lords in January 2019 to directly influence change. This will then be communicated out across the UKs practices to influence both process and approach, which will positively impact thousands of lives.
Alongside looking to fund this vitally important research through our fundraising activities we felt strongly of the impact we could make through raising awareness of mental health issues. Over the course of the last year we have had a large focus on this as a business, both internally and stretching wider into our client and candidate communities, through hosting events on the topics and publishing an insight magazine on the topic.
“We have been blown away by the energy and generosity of Investigo. They have been our first corporate partner and the relationship we have formed with them over the last 12 months is something really quite special. From the charity quiz, to the gig, to the cycle ride, the drive across the business to not only raise as much money as possible, but to raise awareness on a topic that affects us all, is truly quite amazing. The money Investigo has raised over the last 12 months will positively impact thousands of lives all over the UK.” Sarah Hughes, Chief Executive, Centre for Mental Health.
